This is the homepage of Robert Styer, Department of Mathematical Sciences, Villanova University. Find Teaching schedule and current courses / office hours. I am interested in analytic and elementary number theory. My thesis involved Hecke theory over number fields. For some years I worked on conjectures by Imre Katai in additive and multiplicative number theory. I have been working with Reese Scott (a musician/composer who does math on the side to relax!) on Diophantine equations research. Here are some articles and other work we have done on exponential Diophantine equations. I also enjoy creating educational modules (on geometric series, harmonic series, some plane geometry; see links under Courses.) Here is a paper on Three: Lines, Triangles and the Trinity written for the November 2001 Experiences of God in the Disciplines Sophia Papers conference. In Sept 2010 the Villanovans for Life campus group invited several professors to discuss how their prolife views intersect with their professional life; here is my one page statement (pdf, Word). Here is a review of the excellent Ordinary Differential Equations educational software ODE Architect. Here is an old unsuccessful attempt on the palindrome problem. My 1981 thesis. An interesting treatment of the problem of Quantum Measurement has been worked out by a MIT graduate and colleague of mine and can be found on the arxiv preprint server: Problems of Quantum Measurement.
